Batterer Intervention
Who are we?
The DeKalb County Domestic Abuse Program (DCDAP) began in 1993 as one of Illinois' first programs to focus on intervening with men who commit violence against their partners.
What do we provide?
An opportunity for individuals to learn how to stop abusing their partner in a group setting with others who struggle with similar issues.
The program meets for 1.5 hours every week for 24 weeks.
How does it work?
After someone has been arrested for domestic battery and is found guilty in a court of law, the court will give them the opportunity to be part of this program.
OR
An individual chooses involvement with this program, independent of the court system. In this case, information is kept confidential from the courts.
The individual must contact our office in order to receive an assessment by one of our counselors. Following the assessment, the individual is either accepted into the program or referred to more appropriate services.
What does it cost?
All our fees are kept to a minimum. Fees are on a sliding scale, based upon income. No one is ever turned away because of an inability to pay.
